24 grades with technical data sheet
Polypropylene (PP)
We distribute polypropylene homopolymer, impact copolymer and random copolymer for injection moulding, extrusion, raffia, film, fibre and blow moulding, from Murcia to the whole of Spain.
Polypropylene is the most versatile plastic on the market: light (density of around 0.90 g/cm³), rigid, resistant to heat and to many chemicals, and easy to process by injection moulding, extrusion, blow moulding or thermoforming.
At Plasticalia Chemical we work with all three types of polypropylene, each designed for a different use. Below you will find how to choose one and all the grades we distribute, each with its technical data sheet.
Types
- Homopolymer
- The most rigid type, with the highest heat resistance. Used in raffia and woven sacks, fibres, ropes, film, sheet for thermoforming and injection-moulded parts that are not subject to impact in the cold.
- Impact copolymer (block)
- It contains ethylene in blocks, which gives it toughness even at low temperatures. It is the choice for caps and closures, crates and containers, buckets, housewares and technical parts that have to withstand impacts.
- Random copolymer
- Ethylene distributed at random gives it transparency and a lower melting point. Used in clear packaging, housewares, film and blow-moulded bottles.
How to choose the grade
The key figure for choosing is the melt flow index (MFI), measured at 230 °C with 2.16 kg. Low-flow grades (1–5 g/10 min) are for extrusion: raffia, film, sheet and fibre. Medium-flow grades (8–25 g/10 min) are for general injection moulding. High-flow grades (35–80 g/10 min) are for thin-wall parts, fast cycles and nonwovens.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between polypropylene homopolymer and copolymer?
The homopolymer is more rigid and handles heat better; the impact copolymer is tougher and does not break on impact, even in the cold. If the part is going to take knocks or be used in freezing conditions, the copolymer is the safe choice.
Which polypropylene is used for raffia and woven sacks?
A low-flow homopolymer, at around 3–4 g/10 min, such as ESENTTIA 03H82: it draws well, offers good thickness control and produces tough tapes.
Which polypropylene is transparent?
Random copolymer, especially the clarified grades. It is used in clear packaging and housewares.
